The Board IT Governance Program
In today’s volatile economic and political environments, Corporate Directors are facing unprecedented uncertainty and problems of unfathomable proportions. They also find themselves under increased scrutiny to demonstrate accountability and transparency.
Nowhere has this become more demanding for Directors than in the Board’s governance responsibility for Information Technology (IT).
Legislation both in Canada (National Policy 58-201, section 3.4) and the United States (Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank Acts) has increased Directors’ responsibilities to satisfy themselves that their organization’s IT function is working effectively. As a result, IT governance is now considered an integral part of overall enterprise governance. Yet, it is often very difficult for Directors – who are mostly generalists – to keep up with and understand the IT changes and challenges facing their organizations and that are increasingly taking place.
The Board IT Governance Program, however, offers a lifeline.
The Board IT Governance Program is an intensive and innovative 3 module program designed to address the critical IT governance issues facing corporate Directors today. With instruction from governance thought leaders, experts from the IT, legal and accounting industries, and academic authorities from leading business schools, the Board IT Governance Program combines powerful ideas and strategic insights to teach participants the latest best practices in 21st century IT governance.
Through an examination of topical municipal governance issues, the BIT-GOV PROGRAM provides an incomparable learning experience for Directors from both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and the opportunity to engage with peers, to take stock of their organization’s current IT governance practices and to develop best in class IT governance practices. Participants gain an enhanced and enlightened understanding of their IT governance obligations while engaging in interactive case studies and other effective learning methodologies.
